We have shared a lot about the benefits of linking your blog with facebook and how you can create a viral network on the social networking platforms through blogging.
Over the last few weeks I have developed a friendship with Jo Barnes, best known as the Facebook Queen. Now Jo’s business has been built solely on the benefits of facebook. She is an amazing communicator so she relies mainly on video content to get over her message. So todays post is a guest post video by the one and only Jo Barnes. You will gather from the video that Jo isn’t a blogger! What you will see though is the magic that can be created through linking your blog with facebook fan pages – something that Jo can help you set up for free at here site http://www.socialnetworkingacademy.com
When you check out this post – remember, Matt has 600,000 visits a month to his blog – blogging is still a powerful medium for getting a message across!
It would be grateful to hear your views on this post. Do you see the advantages of linking a blog to facebook? Do you see the power of the social media? Do you see why we would recommend you join a social networking tribe?
Join Matt and I here http://www.facebook.com/nuclearblogger and Jo here: http://www.facebook.com/socialnetworkingacademy to continue the conversation.

I agree that social media is a very powerful tool. A simple link from facebook could generate tons of new traffic to the blog. But at the same time linking it to facebook sort of spams your close/personal friends with something that might not be of interest to them. Which is why i recently blogged about creating a facebook profile for business. I think its important to have personal friends and businesses separated as sometimes you don’t want to do something wrong in the eyes of facebook and get banned causing you to lose all the contacts with your friends.
Hi Siew Yik,
Thanks for your comment . The purpose of having LIKE pages or FAN pages is so that you definitely can keep your personal profile seperate from your business profile…but having two personal profiles is frowned upon by Facebook so you need to be careful about that or you can lose both accounts.
Yes. Linking your blog to facebook creates an incredible viral opportunity for bloggers. You can link your blogs to your LIKE page without linking them to your personal profile.
The other thing I would like to add is…..I do not publish anything that would offend my personal friends. So I have no issues with that. If I published anything that would offend or annoy my personal friends, I would not be doing my business right, I would not be comfortable within myself if I acted dishonourably in anyway.
Best wishes

great blog and Jo is definately a great person who knows her stuff and uses Social Media incredibly well to built relationships, trust and share knowledge with everyone.
I agree with the previous comment that linking your blog to your personal profile is not optimal and that it should be linked to a facebook business page not a personal profile (unless of course it is a personal blog)
You can also link your blog to your LinkedIn profile and choose which posts to tweet about and signpost your followers to too, which are other ways to create momentum, keep people up to date with your blog and updates and share great added value and content across Social Media Platforms.
Sometimes auto linking is not always the best way to go though as this can create duplicate content on your different platforms, and if you have many followers who are the same people it can be a bit off putting if you are sharing the same content time and time again so I would advise caution before automating your sharing of blogs.

Hi Carol
Thanks for stopping by. Yes…I have realised that with multiple plug ins, auto-responders and networked blogs, you can be guilty of a bit of social networking duplication.
Glad you liked the post…Jo certainly shows the great potential facebook has, doesn’t she.

Peter,
Fantastic video by Jo. I love that you promoted another person’s locaton! That is truly giving back and it will return 10 fold.
Jo hit it right on the button. She states, it’s about meeting others, then they become a client or prospective clients. Socialize, and grow, with others. Learn about there needs and supply that need. Be ethical with everyone you met. Then support them with leaving real content on their location.
Peter, always a pleasure to read your post! I look forward to the next amazing information that you share!
Hi William
You are very kind. Thank you for popping by. Jo is an amazing marketer…and everyone who watches her video will benefit if they take action. I always regard the internet as a place for random acts of kindness…so it is just great when we get to share stuff with each other for mutual benefit.
Best wishes

Peter,
Great share! Facebook is really amazing and really is the social network for bloggers…
Every blogger should be connected to facebook and link up with Networked Blogs.
Thanks for sharing this and it’s great to hear from the Queen of Facebook on this subject.

Hi Pete,
Thanks so much for sharing Jo Barnes’ insight here. As always, Jo delivered great info to work with. I’d never thought about using Facebook as a blogging platform – after her explanation I can see how much extra value and engagement will be added to your community by using it that way. I also see the benefit of linking a blog to Facebook – which I’ve been doing. That has been an additional way to generate traffic to my blog as well as engage my Facebook community.
Great idea to have a guest poster share amazing value for your community here – Pete. I look forward to visiting often to keep up with what’s going on.
Dena :)
Hi Dena
Thanks for popping by. Yes, Jo has caused a bit of a debate by promoting Facebook as a blog on our blog! LOL….
I think her insight into social networking is invaluable to all bloggers…she treats people as friends and provides exceptional value. I believe the WordPress platform and Facebook can be a magical combination…and once your community is established then it can go viral – creating interest from all around the internet without you even knowing.
The whole point of social networking is to create interaction – a two way relationship – and using a blog and facebook in this way will definitely create that kind of community.
Look forward to hearing more about you , Dena, on TSA.
Best wishes

A great video. I like what she says about mixing business with pleasure. With Social Media we get to connect with our markets in a more social way. Too many businesses don’t get this. I also think we need to pick our best media. Jo seems to be good at video. I am better at writing. FB is a powerful medium for marketing. It just can’t be beat. Hopefully it is not going away.
Hi Peter,
I enjoyed the video, using the social media is new for me…lots to learn…I can see the value in linking a blog to face book, so it looks like I’m going to be busy setting up my fan page. Great Idea to host guest bloggers BTW
